    1. The Local Plan: Your Voice Matters

North Yorkshire Council is preparing the North Yorkshire Local Plan that will cover the area of North Yorkshire Council outside of the National Parks.

North Yorkshire Local Plan: Our First Conversation

This consultation is our first conversation on a new Local Plan for North Yorkshire. It is about the priorities and issues that the North Yorkshire Local Plan can help to address. The council is asking for your views on those local plan priorities and issues, what the places and spaces across the North Yorkshire Local Plan area will be like in the future and the how the new local plan can influence that.

We want to ensure that the Parish, City and Town Councils as well as the community including the public, interested groups and organisations, visitors, businesses, landowners, and developers are all involved.

The North Yorkshire Local Plan: Our First Conversation consultation runs to Tuesday 15 July 2025 .

You will receive an email (or letter for those without access to email) advising you when the first conversation consultation starts and providing you with information on how and where to view the documents and how to get involved.

Further information is available online on the North Yorkshire Local Plan page, www.northyorks.gov.uk/localplan

  1. Following our last Parish Council meeting letters were forwarded to our local MPs with regards to the lack of progress being made on  the proposed footpath for Sutton Lane.

Robbie Moore MP and Julian Smith MP have raised this matter both with North Yorkshire Council and Bradford Metropolitan District Council asking them to look into the concerns raised and provide an update.

The reply from the Chief Executive of North Yorkshire Council informs that the Specialist Engineer has returned from sick leave. Encouragingly, the Traffic Engineer has already discussed the scheme with him and indicated his intention to re-engage with the landowners in the very near future.

BMDC is leading the project and the majority of the scheme falls within their jurisdiction. NYC are largely reliant on their progress. North Yorkshire Council's role will primarly come into effect once the on-site works are complete, at which point NYC will make the agreed financial contribution.

Any further information from Bradford Council will be provided on this site on receipt.
